Birthday Gerz

It's Brian. Time for a Dad post.

It's hard for us to believe, but Audrey turned 1 on September 6. Her birthday was also our mental deadline for getting most of our backyard landscaping projects finished so that we could have a party fit for a gerz. Not even a day before her party, we were spreading close to a tone of decomposed granite over our backyard path, but somehow it all came together and we were able to exhale and really enjoy our little girl's party with friends and family.

Amidst all of this hustle and bustle though, we made sure to reflect on the absolutely amazing whirlwind that the last 12 months have been for us. Audrey has been the most incredible gift
of our lives and we are so humbled by the fact that we belong to her and get to be her parents. Watching her grow from tiny and delicate Gerz 1.0 to the robust and vivacious Gerz 1.1 has
been incredible.

Our lives have made major transformations as well. Although we strive to be as laid back as possible (in spite our genetic wiring) and to integrate our new lifestyle into our old one, the truth of the matter is that we're much more homebound, which is a good thing. The garden is popping, the house is coming together more each day, and stuff like mowing the lawn with a beer around sunset is just really fun for me.

Anyway, for those who made it to Audrey's party, thanks for coming. It was really a wonderful time having friends and family over to share in our joy and to celebrate the Notorious APG. For those who couldn't make it, enjoy these photos:
