Quick Update

Hi Everyone! It's been a while since we've posted, but we just wanted to send a quick update. After many, many more phone calls and voicemails, and one near-nervous breakdown, we finally got an appointment confirmed today to meet Dr. Thomas Lee this Friday at Children's Hospital Los Angeles. We consider this a major milestone.

This unbelievably maddening process of of getting Audrey face-to-face with a doctor is one that we'll need to make peace with since there will likely be several more. Most of the people we spoke with were actually quite helpful, but there was always a form that needed to go someplace, and each form required a phone call and a few days of processing time. Audrey has been waiting for over half of her life to get this test, which, from what we've heard is a pretty simple procedure, aside from her having to be put under anesthesia.

So, this Friday will be a first consultation with Dr Lee. He will examine Audrey, and most likely we'll make an appointment for the ERG. Even though we will probably be making a few trips to LA to meet with Dr. Lee, I feel that the peace of mind that we'll get will be well worth it. Unlike our doctors here in San Diego, he's actually worked with quite a few people with LCA, and I have talked to a few parents of kids who have gone to him and all have said great things. I think we can expect good information and specialized care. Hopefully we'll have some new knowledge soon.
Thanks so much for reading and for loving our precious Audrey Pearl!
