First Month in the Books

Miss Audrey will be 4 weeks old tonight at 3:02, and she might make her mom wait up with her until she reaches this momentous milestone. She's grown so much this month gaining almost 2 pounds in weight and almost an inch in length and that's not all.

Every day her dad and I notice something new about her--she has started talking to herself and to us with her coos and gurgles, and has begun tracking us with her eyes. She listens for about 30 seconds when her dad reads to her, and when she gets her diaper changed, she seems to know that she'd better get everything out of her system so that she can sit in a clean diaper for a while because she always goes when we're in the middle of changing her. She's also started to smile, but they seem to be pretty accidental at this point.

We have also learned a thing or two this month- we're getting better at anticipating her needs so that she doesn't get upset to the point of "donkey crying" or "pig grunting. We've also become experts on childhood skin disorders--she's already had thrush, baby acne, and infected cradle cap. None of them seem to give her any discomfort, but for us as new parents it's very disconcerting.

Thanks to everyone for looking, and stay tuned for more exciting news from "the girz."
